“Your Labs Are Normal.” … But Are They Telling the Whole Story?

Hi Reader,

Have you ever left an appointment feeling relieved… and confused at the same time?

“Everything looks normal.”

And yet you’re still:

  • Gaining weight around your middle
  • Waking up at 3am
  • Snapping at strangers for no reason
  • Feeling wired and tired all at once
  • Wondering why your body feels so different

Especially in perimenopause and menopause, this disconnect can feel discouraging.

So let me answer a question I often get:

“Why do you run labs if my doctor says they’re normal?”

Because I’m Not Just Looking at Numbers — I’m Looking at Patterns.

Most standard lab work is designed to rule out disease.

But in this season of life, we’re often dealing with shifts, not disease.

Subtle metabolic changes.
Stress adaptation changes.
Insulin resistance trends.
Inflammation patterns.

Individually, they may sit inside “normal.”
Together, they tell a story.

And story matters.

For example:

  • Fasting glucose at 98 may be “normal”… but paired with elevated triglycerides, it can hint at declining metabolic flexibility.
  • LDL creeping upward during estrogen shifts can signal we need dietary and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Ferritin, vitamin D, insulin, inflammatory markers — when viewed together — give context.

I don’t chase random abnormalities.

I look for themes.

This Isn’t About Labeling You.

It’s about empowering you.

Instead of:

“I guess this is just aging.”

We shift to:

“Here’s what my body is doing… and here’s how we support it.”

That support might include:

✔ Strategic protein distribution
✔ Blood sugar balancing meals
✔ Nervous system regulation
✔ Strength training adjustments
✔ Sleep stabilization
✔ Targeted supplementation

But we don’t throw everything at the wall.

We personalize it.
